What is this project?
Children of Refugees is an oral history project. The people we interview are the American-born or -raised children of Vietnamese refugees.
Oral history is a one-on-one interview in which a person shares their life story, memories and reflections. Learn more about oral history here: https://oralhistory.lib.uci.edu/getting-started
Will there be more interviews?
Yes! We are just getting started. To stay up to date on new interviews added to the site, please sign up for our newsletter.
Can I use these interviews in my research?
At their heart, our interviews are for community building and communication through the generations. Please share our interviews with your friends, family and community members. The more we learn about each others' experience, the more we build intergenerational bonds and create solidarity with our friends and neighbors.
If you'd like to use these interviews as primary source material in your research, please credit the narrator* by using the suggested citation on each interview page. Additionally, we'd LOVE to know how you're using these materials! Please reach out to us via our contact form. Please note, interviews may only be used for educational, non-commercial purposes.

Who is leading this project?
We (Amy and Jenn) are professional archivists at academic institutions. (An archivist is a librarian who works with historical and archival materials.) See more at the About page.
